Here are a few science projects I&#8217;ve found on the web.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sciencespot.net\/Pages\/classchem.html#Anchor2\">This has two Christmas suggestions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Identifying mystery powders, \tincludes a decision chart and backstory (I&#8217;m guessing Mrs. Claus \tisn&#8217;t very good at food storage safety). Requires basic household \tsupplies: baking powder, baking soda, flour, powdered sugar, baby \tpowder, corn starch, vinegar, and iodine.<\/li>\n<li>Chromatography Christmas \tdecorations (requires coffee filters and non-permament dyes, like \tthose in an overhead marker. I&#8217;ve even seen it done with M&amp;M&#8217;s)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>2. \u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lessonplanspage.com\/ScienceArtMDChristmasCrystals46.htm\">Christmas Ornament <\/a> (Crystals)<\/p>\n<p>A holiday variation on your typical crystal garden experiment.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lessonplanspage.com\/ScienceArtCategorizingSnowflakes2.htm\">Examining Snowflakes<\/a> (Crystals)<\/p>\n<p>This one requires children to collect snow flakes as they fall, inspect them, and record their observations.  Not really an option here on the border, but maybe you&#8217;ll have a White Christmas at your house!<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.easyfunschool.com\/article1839.html \">Old Fashioned Sponge Candy<\/a> (Acids and Bases)<\/p>\n<p>The combination of vinegar (acid) and baking soda (base) makes a foamy candy.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachersfirst.com\/getsource.cfm?id=7892\">Interplanetary Christmas<\/a><\/p>\n<p>What would Christmas be like on the other planets in our solar system?<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00c2\u00a0And don&#8217;t forget to let the kids help you with the baking!
